Menlo Innovations is a software design and development firm launched in Ann Arbor on June 12, 2001 with a self-described mission to "rescue the industry from itself," according to founder Richard Sheridan, Entrepreneur Finalist of the Year three years running.

Inspired by Edison's invention factory in Menlo Park, New Jersey, the company's founders have a visionary attitude about work space, creating an office where ideas are shared and rewards are shared. (Watch metromode's video about the company here).

Dedicated to relieving software application-user angst, Menlo tailors software to take their end users into consideration and offers a training program for companies to immerse employees in what they need to know to operate more confidently and efficiently the software they use to do their jobs. Menlo�s team goes out in the field to experience the environment and needs of its customers� employees in order to construct software that is user-friendly and that targets specific client needs.

Menlo Innovations applies High-Tech Anthropology® to help clients fully understand their business problems and opportunities. Menlo either develops the software within their Menlo Software Factory (TM) or The Menlo Institute trains a client�s staff to use proven methodologies to develop the software themselves.

Major clients include Accuri Cytometers, Michigan State Police, eWashtenaw, Borders, Carhartt, CMS Energy and Domino's Pizza.

Menlo employs a "core group" of 16, with a flexible additional staff of between 16-32 for more complex projects. The company hopes to employ a total of 75 over the next couple of years.
