Founded in 2001 by two University of Michigan research scientists,
Xoran Technologies
is the innovator and market leader in compact, specialized medical CT scanners that can examine head and sinus areas right in the physician's office.
With the motto "We make the complex simple," this Ann Arbor-based company embodies all the qualities of a great biotechnology company: passion, efficiency and innovation.
Xoran is a customer- focused medical imaging company passionate about bringing fresh, common sense solutions to patient care. They specialize in small, low radiation CT scanners for dental and medical specialists to diagnose their patients at their point-of-care.
In fact, their first product was a dental CT scanner (now called i-CAT). Before i-CAT, most dental specialists sent their patients to hospitals and imaging centers for diagnostic images. With the advent of i-CAT, dental specialists suddenly had instant access to high quality, 3D images, accelerating diagnosis and improving operative outcomes.
Xoran next developed its MiniCAT™ sinus and ear CT scanner, currently used by physicians all over the nation to diagnose patients during office exams. Beyond the benefit of expediting diagnosis and treatment, the scans are quick and safe, taking less than a minute per patient and delivering 1/10th the radiation dose of a full-body CT scanner.
With the release of the xCAT Mobile Point-of-Care CT Scanner, Xoran will now be able to provide their technology to hospital neurological intensive care units and the operating rooms of brain and sinus surgeons.
Currently employing 67 people in Ann Arbor, Xoran is currently looking to fill several positions. Last year they added 40.
This year Crain's Business Detroit profiled Xoran's co-founder, president and CEO, Pedrag Sukovic, in their
40 Under 40
. In 2005 the company was honored as one of the Michigan 50 companies to watch.
