Ann Arbor's XanEdu continues growth spurt with new hires

XanEdu Publishing is riding the wave of new technology into a bigger bottom line and a larger staff.

The Ann Arbor-based publishing company traditionally makes educational materials for schools, such as course packs for colleges. It has expanded that reach from the paper world to digital with the launch of Folio-X last year, an enhanced product that allows college students computer access to the courses material. Part of that package is XanEdu Publishing's new iPad app that is giving students more in-depth access to this information.

"We're allowing them to engage more with their material," says Dianne Michalek, director of marketing at XanEdu Publishing. "They can expand it more easily. They can hyperlink to information the professor is trying to get across."

These new products have allowed the 12-year-old company to expand its staff by 5-10 percent over the last year.

"We have been doing some phenomenal work in the last year," Michalek says.
