One of Ypsilanti's greatest advocates, newspaper publisher George Handy, is remembered for his motto – "Consider the good of Ypsilanti first."

George C. Handy played a major role in the shaping of the character of the city of Ypsilanti. As the owner and publisher of The Ypsilanti Daily Press, Handy had a policy he defined as: "Consider the good of Ypsilanti first."
