Big Ten Conference Diversity Intern

The goal of the Big Ten Diversity Internship and the UM Athletics Administrative Internship Program is to 1) provide an individual with practical and well-rounded work experience and mentorship; 2) increase the opportunities for underrepresented minorities and women within intercollegiate athletic administration; and 3) positively impact the University of Michigan and its Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.
Responsibilities:
The selected intern will be assigned specific responsibilities within the Michigan Athletic Department designed to help facilitate their growth in college athletics administration and operations. These responsibilities will come from, but are not limited to, marketing, academic support, student services, compliance, development, and human resources. The intern position will have access to the Associate Athletics Director's leadership and supervision of these areas and mentorship from senior team members. These opportunities will provide the selected intern options and experience with the varied aspects of an athletic department's internal administration and may help narrow their respective focus and career aspirations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree; successful academic record of achievement?- History of engagement with the University and/or athletics community?- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations;?- Proficiency with Microsoft Office;?- Actively pursuing a career in intercollegiate athletics administration;?- Basic knowledge of an athletics department's general operations.
Desired Qualifications*
- Prior internship experience working in an athletic department;?- Master's degree in sport management, business, communications, or related fields.
Additional Information
Compensation: $25,000 annually (based on a 40 hour week for 52 weeks; $12.00/hour, paid bi-weekly)?Appointment: 12 months - January 1, 2013 thru Dec. 31, 2013. This is a temporary position with no medical insurance or retirement benefits.

Adult Emergency Services Intern

The University of Michigan Health System, regionally and nationally known for its commitment to providing high quality, family-centered patient care seeks bachelors prepared graduate nurses for our Adult Emergency Department Nursing Internship program starting June 3, 2013. The Adult ED is a level one trauma center with approximately 75,000 visits per year, providing a fast paced and exciting work environment. Our nurses serve as integral members of a multidisciplinary team providing care for adult patients in a variety of treatment areas.
This is a 4 to 6 month internship program which prepares new Graduate Nurses for a Registered Nurse position in the Emergency Department. Orientation includes a combination of classroom and precepted clinical experience. A two year commitment to the department is required after completion of program. The initial 4 to 6 months will rotate day, evening, and night shifts. Shift assignment will occur after successful completion of internship.

Requirements:
Candidate must be a Graduate Nurse or Newly Licensed Registered Nurse, who has not practiced as a Registered Nurse, and must have successfully completed an accredited BSN program or have 5 years of Emergency Department Technician experience at a Level One Trauma Center with successful completion of an ADN program.
Successful completion of N-CLEX must occur no later than 45 days from the individuals start date.
Successful candidate must obtain ACLS during orientation, and obtain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification within 6 months post orientation to maintain position. These can be obtained through UMHS Emergency Department.
Desired Qualifications*
Excellent interpersonal communication skills are desired.
Experience in an Emergency Room, ICU, or as a Paramedic is desired.
Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher is preferred.

Must be available to start Internship June 3, 2013.
This is a "multiple-fill" job opening: A total of seven (7) full time, Graduate Nurse/Newly Licensed Registered Nurses will be hired to fill this job opening.
