Our lab investigates the folding and stability of proteins in the living cell. Protein stability has important implications for the development of protein-based drugs and biotechnological applications and is affected in a variety of human diseases such as cystic fibrosis or Alzheimer's disease. We've recently developed a bacterial system that will allow researchers to easily identify stabilized variants of proteins, helping to understand how protein function and stability are maintained in the human body.

My daily work involves running and planning experiments, documenting scientific data, keeping up with the scientific literature and supervising students. We often have group or departmental meetings to discuss scientific problems. My job also includes publishing my research results in form of papers in scientific journals, and presenting them at scientific meeting in form of talks and poster presentations. Occasionally, I write grant or fellowship applications.

I work at the University of Michigan Spectrum Center where we work with students, faculty, and staff around sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression. I have a lot of the admin, budget, and HR responsibilities and I also do student programming and outreach events. I love my job because I get to work with students on a daily basis, bring in amazing speakers, and be part of the first LGBTQ center at any university in the nation.

After working for Congressman John Dingell for two years in Washington, DC, I moved back to Michigan and worked for him from 2006 to 2011. I was excited for the chance to come back home and have a job I really enjoyed. This April I had a chance for another exciting opportunity in the region as I took a position as VP of Government Relations at the Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti Chamber. Personal and professional connections helped me find this job and I enjoy it. I interface with policy makers, businesses and the community in general to help ensure our area remains a great place to live and work and a vibrant place to do business. I'm grateful that my wife Megan and I can live in southeast Michigan because it really is a wonderful area with tremendous people and a remarkable quality of life. I hope many bright young folks have the same success in finding their jobs here because this is the best place to be.  

The Depot Town Community Development Corporation maintains, operates and funds improvements for Riverside and Frog Island Parks in Ypsilanti.  As the executive director, my duties include strategic planning, public relations and promotion, fundraising and event planning.

I supervise the Customer Service office for Parks and Recreation services as well as all rentals and events within City parks and parks facilities. I spend lots of time working with the public and non-profits to create wonderful opportunities for events in our Parks.

I am a scientist at the University of Michigan, Department of Atmospheric, Oceanic and Space Sciences, and my job centers around using images and movies of the X-ray Sun taken by satellites to the determine the 3D structure of the outermost layer of the Sun’s atmosphere, called the corona.  (to see some of the types of images go to: http://trace.lmsal.com/POD/TRACEpodoverview.html)  Working for the U of M gives me the opportunity to do cutting edge research and work with excellent students and faculty in science and engineering.  In addition, there is a lot of fun travel!

I run and manage the UM America Reads Tutoring Corps.  Through a partnership with the UM School of Education and the Office of Financial Aid, we train college students to be mindful, effective K - 3 literacy tutors by scaffolding their learning about how student achievement in the U.S. education system interfaces with issues of class, race, language acquisition and other systems.  The University students are the vehicleS through which we work toward our mission of having all children reading well and independently by the end of third grade.

As a software consultant at SRT Solutions, I write software that solves a wide range of challenging problems for our clients. I’m fortunate to be a part of a team of smart, passionate software developers that genuinely enjoy their work. Getting to be a part of a team of so many fun and thought provoking people is probably the thing that I like the most about my job. Not only do my coworkers hone my technical skills, but the contacts that I’ve made through SRT have led to opportunities that I simply wouldn’t have had if I worked elsewhere.

As as student at the University of Michigan, I grew to enjoy the combination of big city and small town that Ann Arbor provides, and as a lifelong Michigander, I had a strong preference to stay in the area after graduation. I had offers from a few local companies, but SRT Solutions’ blend of a fun work environment, downtown location, interesting challenges, and potential for career development eventually won me over.

A few years later, I have no regrets with my decision to work at SRT or to stay in Michigan. Working downtown is a cool way to stay connected to the city, and living in Ann Arbor has been a great fit for me as well. I’m excited to continue my adventures in Ann Arbor, and I'm looking forward to finding out what the future holds for me!

With seven years as a professional web application developer, I am the point man for adopting emerging technologies for business use.  I have solid knowledge of PHP, MySQL, HTML5, FLEX and other standards, and the creative problem-solving skills from an artistic training. I hold an M.F.A. in Digital Imaging from Rochester Institute of Technology. In my copious spare time, I write apps for iPhone/iPad.

I generate traffic for my websites. When I was living in Poland I noticed that there were a lot of small airlines that flew all over Europe, but that they couldn't be found on the popular websites like Orbitz and Expedia. When I came back to the USA I created AirNinja.com with my brother to show these airlines. Since then we have developed a handful of other websites.

As owner and founder of Color Bar Creative, I work mainly with local and out-of-state brides to create custom designs for all things paper for their wedding. I also design websites and other custom products for baby and other special events.

I joined HP Enterprise Services (formerly EDS) out of college working as a project analyst for one of our largest clients.  In 2009, I transitioned to HP’s Consulting Services organization in the leveraged services group Project Management Delivery (PMD) team.  Leveraged teams provide  certain services / resources to different client’s / accounts in HP wherever their particular skills are needed.  When client accounts need PM’s to manage a new project, a PM will lead a project & work with that client until the project has been completed and then begin working on a new project with, perhaps, a different client that requires their services.  
 
Since then, I have been a PM assigned to projects on a Life Sciences (Healthcare) account and oversee the account’s Project Management Office (PMO).  The PMO monitors, oversees, and provides tools / support for all of the 30 or so projects that are occurring for our client on the account at any given time.
 
I was drawn to a career with project management because of my Organizational Studies major in college.  I particularly enjoy projects in the life sciences industry because of its complexity, breadth, and growth.  Every day is different and each project I manage provides a different set of challenges to overcome and many new learning opportunities.  With every project I manage, I also work day-to-day with a new group of people, often located across the globe.  It is very satisfying running the PMO for the account; I work with other PM’s to determine what tools, systems, and process improvements the account can create and implement provide better service to our client and support our projects being  completed successfully and effectively.   Because of HP’s size & global presence, I am able to work from the comfort of my home while interacting with coworkers and clients all over the world.

MentalNote is an electronic medical records (EMR) for the behavioral health industry. MentalNote was created and designed by Dr. James Hughes, a psychiatrist and programming hobbyist. Dr. Hughes and I created the H&T Medical Solutions company to help simplify psychiatrist's documentation in private practices. The company is refer as MentalNote, the brand name. After three years of piloting MentalNote and selling over 150 paid licenses in 5 countries, the market research showed a need for MentalNote. It provided simple tools and features that was missing in the EMR industry.

As CEO of MentalNote, the responsibilities are unlimited and I LOVE it. Like any entrepreneur for a startup, you wear multiple hats to run your business. Not only do I have to manage the daily operations of the company, meet the sales projections, continuously build the brand, seek partnership to expand the business and pay my employees, but I also have to do a lot of public relations (PR) for MentalNote. Being the CEO, I have to accept that I am the face of the brand and that the energy, exciting and PR I do everyday is how the brand will be perceived. I want MentalNote to be known as a "creative" company and not just another EMR. In addition, making sure our business partners are as equal or more successful  than we are is very important to me. I tremendously enjoy this job and I find it challenging each day.

I am a sales engineer. I sell prototype castings to manufacturing companies that are looking for prototypes to test their initial designs. We also do a great deal of low volume production/one-off work for research & design companies. The position is suiting, because it is a good mix technical engineering and direct sales/account management with the customers. I love my job, but it is not for everyone. I work with a great group of individuals and the incentives are great. This particular position that I am in is a great opportunity to work in multiple industries (automotive, aviation, aerospace, energy, agriculture), in addition to a mix of time in and out of the office. My situation couldn't have worked out better… I am close to family and I get to see all four seasons.  We are looking to hire more CAD designers and sales people in our Ann Arbor office later this year.

I am responsible for diagnosing benign and malignant conditions from gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.  As a Cytotechnologist, I play a key role in patient care.  I assist on fine needle aspirations (FNA) to perform onsite patient evaluations.  Primarily, our lab team screens for cervical cancer.  Our lab is currently implementing new molecular diagnostic testing which will change the face of Cytology.
