Amcor PET Packaging North America, a worldwide leader in the packaging industry, seeks a Principal Technician – Machinist Apprentice for their Manchester, MI headquarters, near Ann Arbor. Responsibilities include fabricating new and replacement parts for facility machinery, as well as erecting, installing, and maintaining all facility prototype and production equipment for the Advance Development Plant. Additional duties include assisting with the development of the best possible processes for injection, one-step and/or two-step stretch blow molding platforms for multiple PET products. Requirements:
Education Required /Experience Required Fundamental understanding of plastics - PET related to injection/blow molding processes and package performance testing. Strong analytical/mathematical aptitude along with problem solving skills desired. Possess proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and inventory programs, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Candidate must have a strong technical background in one of the following areas; HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic & pneumatic systems, plumbing, carpentry, piping systems, and PLC programming. Also, some experience with using one or more of the following tools; lathe, milling machine, drill press, vertical/horizontal cut off saw. Technical Discipline Certification from a qualified vocational school, apprentice program, and/or degree from a technical college, with four or more years of experience in a Research & Development Laboratory or the manufacturing industry.
