Developer wants to expand Wintermeyer office building in Ann Arbor

More office space is heading for Ann Arbor just as its new economy start-ups start to gain traction with job creation.

A developer wants to raze two single-family homes on South State Street to make way for a big expansion of the existing Wintermeyer office building behind them. The Ann Arbor City Council thinks this is a good idea, giving the developer the go ahead Monday night.

Each house sits on a parcel of land just south of the railroad tracks and north of the University of Michigan Tennis Center. The developer wants to add them together to make room for a large expansion of a 2-story office building. That 17,000-square-foot building will have another 10,000 square feet and 21 parking spaces added to it.
