Ann Arbor attorney breathes new life into Upland Green project

Upland Green, the development almost given up for dead, is coming back alive. A group of investors hope to get construction on the mixed-use development on Ann Arbor’s north side moving again this spring.

For nine months, the Upland Green project on Ann Arbor‘s north side has sat unfinished. No work, no progress, no nothing happened at the site next to the University of Michigan’s North Campus until recently.

The developer and a new set of investors are breathing life into the project that was given up for dead, restarting construction with an eye toward finishing by this summer.

“The building is darn near done,” says Bill Conlin, an Ann Arbor resident, attorney and the developer of the project. “We’ve just got to go in and get it done.”

The plan is to finish construction on 20 condos and move Panera Bread and Qdoba into their leased spaces overlooking Plymouth Road by June 15. So far, two of the condos have sold and 3,700 square feet of the ground floor retail space is available for lease.

The loft-like condos feature balconies, hardwood floors, granite countertops and appliances. Parking is on surface lots adjacent to the building. The units range in size from 700 to 1,500 square feet and are priced between $135,000 and $325,000.
