GDI to hire 15

A merger-and-acquisition-based business climate is one factor driving Ann Arbor’s GDI Infotech’s rapid growth.

“Basically we specialize in information silo-busting, which is nothing but helping companies integrate and consolidate dispersed business applications, databases and processes into efficient operations,” says CEO Bhushan Kulkarni.

The company has recently launched a new division, and is hiring 15, Kulkarni says.

“We are looking for engagement managers, we are looking for project managers and business analysts,” he says.

Consolidating data processes is a high-need area for a company that’s in acquisition mode, Kulkarni says.

“You get duplicate data in your systems, so idenfitying duplicate data, building data redundancies and so on is very critical because otherwise you wind up processing back-office operations in duplicate,” he says. “One of our clients is Borders, which bought Waldenbooks… they’re both similar in nature but when you merge, you have diff items, different ways of how you track and distribute. Now as one company, you want to be on the same database or applications, the solutions business is going to focus on such issues – like how do you maintain data quality?”
