Ensuring Access to Quality Health Care

Washtenaw County is fortunate to have a number of community health clinics that provide access to vital health care services for underserved patients.  

Packard Health offers integrated primary care, mental health care, and other patient services at two Ann Arbor locations. Low income residents have access to dental care at the University of Michigan’s Community Dental Center. In Ypsilanti the Hope Clinic provides medical and dental care, emergency groceries, and other social services for those in need. The Corner Health Center gives youth ages 12-21 access to quality primary care, mental health services, and health education to help them transition to healthy adult lives.

Over the years, the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation and its donors have provided nearly $600,000 in grant support to help local health clinics expand and maintain critical services, including the Hope Clinic Endowment Fund, which helps ensure the Clinic’s long-term future. Grant funding has helped Packard Health open its west side clinic and the Corner Health Center preserve critical services and staff during the economic downturn. 

Ellen Clement, Executive Director at the Corner Health Center notes, “Community clinics all share a commitment to making sure people have access to the same high quality of care regardless of their ability to pay. AAACF’s support has helped ensure we can continue to do that. We’re very fortunate to live in a community that can make that happen for people.”
