When Oscar Reimold died, he left a gift that never stops giving, an endowment at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation that supports local programs to help Ann Arbor seniors live independently and with dignity. Since 1981, the Oscar Reimold Fund has awarded more than $1.3 million in grants – more than three times Oscar's original gift!
In many ways, Oscar Reimold personified the American Dream. The son of German immigrants, he worked hard, lived frugally, invested wisely, and became a successful businessman. Not just a man of business, Oscar was, in the words of a longtime friend, “a man with a good heart.” In his will, Oscar left a gift to create an endowment at the Ann Arbor Area Community Foundation that would help Ann Arbor seniors.

Since 1981 this endowment has generated more than $1.3 million in grants—nearly three times the original gift. Oscar’s generosity has touched thousands of livesthrough organizations such as Ann Arbor Senior Center, Catholic Social Services, Food Gatherers,Packard Health, Neighborhood Senior Services, and Arbor Hospice. And as the Oscar Reimold Fund continues to grow, Oscar will continue to help Ann Arbor’s seniors live independently and with dignity.
