U-M student project proposes solution for cleaning up Ann Arbor’s Gelman dioxane plume

In a project dubbed Bioxane, students tested bacteria to see if they could break down 1,4-dioxane, the contaminant present in the plume.

U-M assistant professor Jovan Kamcev places a filter membrane between two electrodes, which measure how well the membrane conducts electricity. This helps his team predict how well it can purify water.
