U-M film students land ad contract
Though Michigan's film incentive may be fading into the sunset (along with the industry it almost created), a trio of U-M film students have turned a contest win into work with Mountain Dew. Excerpt: "Natalie Condon, Debashis Mazumder and Marty Stano were all between projects when they decided to shoot a commercial and enter it in a MOFILM Video Contest. Several brands were represented, including AT&T, Chevrolet and the American Red Cross. Stano and company chose to represent Mountain Dew. They produced a spot called “The Pitch,” featured actor/producer Danny Mooney playing a jolty ad executive pitching a story to what turns out to be the wrong guy. Not only did “The Pitch” win the Mountain Dew portion of competition, it won the grand prize, which included a trip to Barcelona for the GSMA Mobile World Congress event, a $10,000 cash prize and a public screening of the commercial. "The Pitch" was also screened at the Tribeca Film Festival." Read the rest of the story here.
