Ann Arbor’s uRefer plans to hire 12 over next year

Stage One and Stage Two, done for Ann Arbor-based uRefer. Now comes the tricky part – Stage Three. What does that mean? Generating repeat business.

The referral-management firm has captured a number of big clients, like 5/3rd Bank, and plans to use its success with them to scale up its growth.

“We’re looking at adding a dozen people over the course of the next year,” says Mike Burba, chief operating officer for uRefer.

Right now the company employs eight people, a couple of interns from the University of Michigan and an independent contractor. The company started with three people.

Two-year-old uRefer specializes in referrals. The main product for uRefer, launched last July, helps companies either set up a referral program or maximize the one it has in place.
