Washtenaw Community College (WCC) will offer science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)-focused mini-camps for local students ages 7 to 17 during the 2026 midwinter break. The one- and two-day camps will be held on Feb. 13 and 14. They range in cost from $55 to $210, but interested families in the 48197 and 48198 zip codes are invited to apply for scholarships.

“Camps are taught by WCC instructors, so students will be in spaces they might encounter in the future,” says Sophia McCain, development manager at WCC and a camp organizer. “In addition, all our camps have an element of the arts, so all types of learners are included.”

The four camps are:

Cardboard Engineering Mini Camp (Feb. 13, ages 10-13) – This workshop will enhance students’ problem-solving and critical thinking skills and inspire them to see themselves as “future innovators, equipped to tackle real-world challenges,” according to a program description.

Esports Mini Camp (Feb. 13, ages 13-17) – This camp will use competitive gaming as a launching pad for real-world skills.

STEM & Craft Mini Camp (Feb. 13, ages 7-10) – A program description says this STEM crafting workshop for kids offers a “colorful, hands-on experience.”

3D Printing Mini Camp (Feb. 13-14, ages 12-17) – A program description says this two-day 3D printing and design workshop for teens “aims to inspire creativity, introduce fundamental design skills, and provide hands-on experience with printing techniques.” Students will gain practical skills in graphic design and an understanding of the printing process.

WCC is also planning spring break camps, summer camps, and fall mini-camps in 2026. All camps are designed to prepare students for the next level of education, with a focus on skill building and teamwork.
