A theme, Davis explained to her class of 12th-grade students, is the underlying meaning of a story, a universal truth, and it must be clearly stated.Those who know Davis say a recurring theme in her career is motivating her students to set academic, as well as personal goals, and create plans to achieve them.In recognition of her efforts, Davis has received the 2008 Yale Teaching Award given by Yale University’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
