Happy Fourth Of July
The editorial staff of Concentrate would like to wish you a happy and safe fourth of July. We’ll be spending the week barbecuing, catching up on the gossip magazines and sampling Michigan’s finest microbrews. Some time in a hammock may also be involved. We’ll see you again on July 9th with a brand spanking new issue!
In celebration of the Fourth Of July, the date of our country’s independence, I offer up a few choice quotes on patriotism and some important links.
Thanks for reading Concentrate. We’ll see you again on July 9th with a brand new issue.

QUOTES AND LINKS
“A patriot is he whose public conduct is regulated by one single motive, the love of his country; who, as an agent in parliament, has, for himself, neither hope nor fear, neither kindness nor resentment, but refers every thing to the common interest”
-Samuel Johnson
“In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. When his cause succeeds however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a Patriot.”
-Mark Twain
“A patriot must always be ready to defend his country against his government.”
-Edward Abbey
“PATRIOT, n. One to whom the interests of a part seem superior to those of the whole. The dupe of statesmen and the tool of conquerors.”
-Ambrose Bierce, The Devil’s Dictionary
“The government is merely a servant — merely a temporary servant; it cannot be its prerogative to determine what is right and what is wrong, and decide who is a patriot and who isn’t. Its function is to obey orders, not originate them.”
-Mark Twain
