Ann Arbor’s Solidica adds 15 positions in two years, looks to create more
In a time of war is it any wonder a firm like Ann Arbor’s Solidica is going after more military contracts. The wireless sensor development firm has created 15 jobs in the last two years and hopes to do so again in the next two.

The wireless systems developer has grown to 30 employees since it was founded in 1999. Of those jobs, 15 were created in the last two years where it has grown 80 percent in that same period of time.
“We have had a tremendous amount of growth in the last 24 months and we expect that to continue,” says Jeff Jorge, director of global Market development for Solidica
If it does, Solidica expects to add another 15 positions to accommodate its growth.
The start-up is a success story thanks to funds infused to it at its outset by the local venture capital firm North Coast Technology Investors. That funding at the company’s infancy helped it develop into the wireless providing powerhouse it is today.
It mainly focuses on creating supplies for wireless and wired systems. Oftentimes those supplies include built-in wireless sensors. For instance, if a military vehicle crashes, a central command post will know so almost immediately because of Solidica’s technology. A recent contract with the Japanese government entailed putting sensors into the I-beams of major constructio projects to better determine earthquake vulnerabilities.
