Could solar energy give coal a run for it’s money?

Extremetech has a fascinating (and encouraging) article on some technological advances that are pushing the solar energy envelope. Innovation begets innovation which will hopefully begets less dependence on hydrocarbon-derived power. Excerpt: "Twin Creeks, a solar power startup that emerged from hiding today, has developed a way of creating photovoltaic cells that are half the price of today’s cheapest cells, and thus within reach of challenging the fossil fuel hegemony.
