Hens OK, but Ypsilanti draws line at kids (as in goats)
Chickens and goats and ordinances, Oh My! Those three things are causing a stir in Ypsilanti where a man wants to raise both chickens and goats even if the local ordinances says no.
First it was whether chickens should be allowed in Ann Arbor (Yes). Now the question is whether an Ypsilanti man can raise chickens and goats in his backyard.

When Peter Thomason bought chickens to keep in cages in the backyard of his Ypsilanti home last year in apparent violation of a city ordinance, city officials said they wouldn’t take action unless someone complained.
No one did and Thomason has been happily raising about a dozen chickens.
Now Thomason has added two goats to his backyard animal collection – along with their four offspring born this spring – and the city has taken notice.
