Sustainable Urban Transportation focus of U-M panel discussion

As more people migrate back toward city centers, how to transport them in a clean and efficient way will become a hot topic of conversation. That’s already being talked about in Ann Arbor where a high-powered panel will discuss sustainable urban transportation options at the University of Michigan.

How to get people from place to another is a key aspect of sustainable, urban design and the central topic of a panel discussion at the University of Michigan on June 11.

The event will feature U-M researchers and private business executives from around the world who will discuss different options in emerging markets for sustainable urban transportation. They will also speak about what new sustainable transportation options in urban environments mean for businesses and the overall economy.

Among the panelists will be Sue Cischke (the keynote speaker and vice president for safety and sustainability at Ford), Ford Motor Executive Chairman William Clay Ford, Jr., Cisco Systems Managing Partner Val Stoyanov, Royal Dutch/Shell VP Niel Golightly, Cherokee Vice President Paul Morris, GoLoco CEO and Zipcar founder Robin Chase and Mapunity India CEO Ashwin Mahesh.

Of course, Concentrate’s sister publication Metromode has been tackling these topics since it first came online. Check out our articles here, here and here.

The discussion will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the U-M Rackham School of Graduate Studies, 915 E. Washington St. in Ann Arbor. For information about the discussion, contact Susan Zielinski, managing director of SMART at susanz@isr.umich.edu.
