Ann Arbor opens new Swift Run Dog Park

Ann Arbor’s parks are going to the dogs, or at least one of them. Local leaders will open the Swift Run Dog Park on the city’s southeast side early Friday afternoon.

Man’s best friend has flipped the script in Ann Arbor, turning one of the city’s parks from “No Dogs Allowed” to “Come On, Boy!”.

The city will open the Swift Run Dog Park on Friday afternoon. on a 10-acre parcel at the corner of Ellsworth and Platt roads. The park is surrounded by perimeter fencing, allowing dog owners to let their furry companions safely off leash.

The park also features small and large areas for the dogs and places for their owners to dispose of their best friend’s droppings. A dog permit is required to use the park. Dog park permits can be found here or here.

The parking lot for the park is accessible from Platt. There is also overflow parking available at nearby Southeast Area Park, however, visitors are asked not to use Lillie Park.
