EMU students work with Google to increase Web site traffic for non-profits

It seems like there isn’t a pie that Google doesn’t have its finger in. Count Eastern Michigan University among them now that Internet search giant is working with students at the school.

The University of Michigan might be THE reason Google is setting up its AdWords headquarters in Ann Arbor, but the Maize and Blue don’t have a monopoly on the Internet search giant. Students from nearby Eastern Michigan University are also working with Google to find ways to drive more Internet traffic to Web sites.

In a new kind of class experiment, students at Eastern Michigan University are working with Google to drive Web site traffic to five southeast Michigan non-profits. Working in conjunction with a Google grant program that donates AdWords space to organizations, EMU business students are trying to maximize the number of times the organizations’ ads appears when an Internet user types in a related search.
