The Shadow Art Fair

They’re back! In answer to the flash and splash of Ann Arbor’s Art Fair, the crafty crafters of Ypsilanti’s Shadow Art Fair once again move into Depot Town’s Corner Brewery to offer the ultimate in handmade brews, music and, of course, local art. Be there or be oh-so square!

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Back in December 50 crafters and artisans took over the Corner Brewery in Ypsi for the winter version of the Shadow Art Fair — a decidedly non-church-basement take on an arts and craft show. Handmade brew, groovy music and cooler-than-thou crafts were on display and on sale.

It’s all part of the city’s growing DIY culture, turning the former automotive community into the hip Brooklyn to Ann Arbor’s starch-shirted Manhattan.

Well, if you flaked on it last time, or you looking for something that’s not Ann Arbor’s Art Fair, head to Depot Town on Saturday, July 19th. There’ll be 40+ artist/vendors and all sorts of other handmade goodness for your viewing pleasure. (Here’s their web site.)

Still unconvinced? Metromode video producer Tom Hendrickson soaked in the vibe and the suds at this past December’s event. Click on the YouTube video to see more.

The music, is courtesy of the wonderful local band Zoos of Berlin. Do check them out on their MySpace page, and do not miss a live show: http://www.myspace.com/zoosofberlin
