U-M program encourages entrepreneurs
The University of Michigan is trying several different avenues to fight the state’s brain drain. One of the latest efforts os the MORE Program that gives a few thousand dollars of seed money to the school’s students who want to develop a business idea.
U-M is fighting the state’s brain drain, and its latest effort is the MORE Program. The initiative gives a little bit of seed money to some of the big business ideas from the school’s students.

Yue Fan’s relationship with the snooze button was far too close.
“I’d wake up an hour late and realize later it wasn’t the best thing to do,” said the 20-year-old engineering University of Michigan junior.
So last year, he rigged his alarm clock to send a short flashing light test for him to repeat before the snooze button worked. The point was to ensure he was conscious when he hit the button.
Fan is testing his idea on a larger scale thanks to a program that awarded him and 11 other U-M students up to $5,000 to pursue their business ideas.
