Ann Arbor park proposal postponed; Greenbelt buy OK'd

One of Ann Arbor’s greatest assets is its recreational space and the city is working to both preserve and expand it.

Excerpt:

Mayor John Hieftje's proposal to let voters have the last word on any disposition of park land was formally introduced at Thursday's City Council meeting.

But consideration of the proposal was quickly postponed without comment.

Council members have not rushed to embrace the effort, which revives a proposal they rejected just a year ago.

As currently written, Hieftje's proposal is broad and calls for a charter amendment that would require voter approval of the sale of city-owned land purchased or acquired for park use.
