Saline’s American Soy Products expands, to create 5-10 jobs
American Soy Products is getting ready to package up and send some jobs to Saline as the company expands its facilities there.
Business is good in Saline and part of the reason for that is American Soy Products.
The food and packaging firm has been steadily growing since its inception in 1984. Today it has 45 employees and plans to create 5 to 10 new jobs incrementally by next May as it expands its facilities in Saline.
“We’re adding a new production and packaging line,” says Ron Roller, president of American Soy Products.
It can do this thanks to a 30-percent increase in revenue. That comes as the company expands its products from soy-based foods, such as juices, tea and soy milk, to aseptic packaging for other food products. Aseptic packaging is the recyclable material that makes up things like milk, juice and ice cream cartons.
“The demand for this type of packaging is increasing because it’s super efficient,” Roller says.
The firm is looking to use this process for packaging for grocery-store-brand products, such as Kroger-brand cereal. The new expansion, set to be up and running by May, is to facilitate expected extra business.
