Outstanding Student Wins Scholarship for Social Activism

Every year, the College of Arts and Sciences presents the Evans-Strand Diversity Scholarship during the Martin Luther King, Jr., Day Celebration, to a student who is active in promoting a peaceful environment and social justice on campus. This year, the award went to Alli Sheppard, a senior communications student and avid advocate of equality, activism and civil engagement.

Our Revolution, Our Responsibility

Martin Luther King, Jr. day keynote speaker Ed Gordon enlightened audience and kicked off African American History celebrations. This year, with the inauguration of Barack Obama, we have already seen a milestone in race relations. At EMU, the historic event was the cornerstone of this year's MLK Jr. Day and Black History Month celebrations.

EMU’s Autism Center Is Here To Help

Since 1993 there has been a dramatic increase in the rise in autism spectrum disorder among six- to 22-year-olds in the U.S. Quick to react to this alarming development is EMU and St. Joseph Health Systems, their many volunteers, and the generous donors. The result is the Autism Collaborative Center that will offer program options for next summer and begin full services in the fall of 2009.

Music Therapy at EMU: Changing Lives One Note at a Time

There is a place on EMU's campus, where the power of music is used to light the spark in an audience of just one. It is not proud Please Auditorium or intimate Alexander Recital Hall, but is nevertheless a place where music touches lives. This place is EMU's Music Therapy Center, which is quickly establishing itself as one of the University's points of pride.
