CrimeCog makes crime pay, looks to double staff

CrimeCog Technologies is busting up the competition while helping police bust criminals. The Ann Arbor-based firm looks to double its employees base within two years and start an internship program this fall.

There’s a reason police officers hate paper work. When filing a crime report they can enter in the same information as many as 23 times.

Can you say redundant?
Can you say redundant?

The software from CrimeCog Technologies lets cops do it just once. That’s what Joe McKeown, president and COO of the Ann Arbor-based company, claims and says is responsible for his firm’s rapid growth. The company started four years ago with three people and now has 50 employees at its Domino’s Farms office.

“We’ve grown quite a bit both organically and through acquisitions,” McKeown says.

And those type of growth expectations are still valid for the integrated criminal justice data firm. It hopes to double its employee count within two years and is in the process of building an internship program it hopes to kick off this fall.

CrimeCog’s software helps streamline the information process for criminal justice agencies. For instance it eliminates a lot of the paperwork involved in filing reports. It also shares that information with participating agencies so police in Washtenaw County will know if someone they are interested in is busted in Wayne County.
