Concentrate Speaker Event: Going Green In Ann Arbor

For our next Speaker Series Event Concentrate features green-minded professionals who’ll talk about the practices and policies that can assist and hinder our community’s ability to establish a more sustainable future. Green is the new black. Communities across the U.S. are trying to figure out how to be more sustainable in their practices while shrinking their carbon footprint. But other than recycling and buying a Prius, many are stymied as to what they should do next.
So, how does both the city and average Ann Arborite go green? Especially in these economically challenged times. Concentrate decided to solicit some ideas from people who wrestle with these question every day. They’ll talk about the practices and policies that can assist and hinder our community’s ability to establish a more sustainable future, and what we can do to go green.
Our speakers include:
Matt Grocoff – Founder and CEO of GreenovationTV, LLC, a broadband television channel to empower homeowners to make their homes net zero energy, water and waste. Matt is member of the U.S. Green Building Council and a regular contributor to the NPR syndicated The Environment Report. He and his wife Kelly are in the midst of a green renovation of their 110 year old historic home in Ann Arbor’s Old West Side neighborhood. They use their home as a demonstration tool to educate others about reducing energy and water consumption.
Dave Strenski – is an Engineer for Cray Inc., which designs and manufactures high performance computers. He holds degrees in Land Surveying, Civil and Mechanical Engineering. As a hobby, Dave plays with solar power, and helps design and install photovoltaic systems in Ypsilanti. Dave has reached over 1000 people with his presentations about solar power which can be found at SolarYpsi.org along with other solar information.
Concentrate’s Speaker Series event “Going Green In Ann Arbor” will be held Thursday, September 30th at Conor O’Neill’s (318 South Main Street) from 5-7PM.
The event is free and open to Concentrate’s readers, but seating is limited so you must pre-register.The presentation will begin around 5:15 p.m. and run for roughly an 75 minutes.
Refreshments (beer, wine, and soft drinks) will be provided. Discussion and networking before and afterward is greatly encouraged.
