Video Hello Again: Recellular
It’s not often that Dexter can claim it’s home to the world’s largest… well, anything. And yet, homegrown ReCellular is just that: the largest electronics sustainability company on the planet, recycling and refurbishing 500, 000 cell phones a month!

Every phone ever made every day.
That’s what Dexter-based ReCellular deals with as part of its mission to refurbish, reuse and recycle discarded cell phones.
Employing over 500 people, the company started out as a cell phone rental company in the early 1990s but switched to recycling when the phones became more of a disposable commodity. It was a smart move, ReCellular now recycles millions of cell phones each year and has more than 50 percent of the market share with nearly $50 million in revenues.
These numbers also make it one of Michigan’s biggest green industries, with a business strategy that capitalizes on true sustainable practices.
